My name is Tom Walker and I’m the newest employee at Pennsylvania’s famous haunted mine. We recently moved to the area from Texas and it has been quite an adjustment! Our old house had a whirlpool bath tub that my wife loved. When we realized that we were going to have to move she wept, she could not imagine life without her whirlpool tub. Still, the move had to be made. As a tour guide, I was being transferred to Pennsylvania to do guided tours of an old mine that was supposedly haunted. It was a great job and a higher salary, so the deal was that as soon as we found a new house, if it did not have a whirlpool tub, one of the very first things we would do is have one installed.
As luck would have it, the house we found was perfect in every way except for the lack of whirlpools. The ink on the closing papers wasn’t even dry when my wife loaded me up in the car and took me shopping to look at hot tubs and spas.
Both of us assumed that we would be getting one of the whirlpool bathtubs like we had previously. We knew how they worked and had been very happy with our old one, but once we reached the dealership we found ourselves looking not at the traditional whirlpools, but rather at air tubs. At first I thought that the air tubs were the same things as a whirlpool but with a different name, but I was soon set right.
We talked to the dealer who explained that while there are some basic similarities between the Jacuzzi whirlpool tub that we were used to and the air tub, there are also some huge differences that set them apart from other outdoor saunas. Apparently the purpose of the air tub is to use just the right combination of air and water so that when you get into the air tub, you will feel like you are weightless. He also said that most people found that the air tub was preferable when they wanted to just enjoy a quiet bath. However people who were prone to sports injuries or needed some therapeutic help preferred the whirlpools that have jets that crank out more power.
In the end, my wife and I decided to purchase an air tub instead of the whirlpool. This decision was made mostly because there had been a few times when she had felt like the jets in our old tub were pummeling her and she thought that she would prefer the gentler air tub. We made arrangements to have the air tub installed the same day that we were going to be able to move into our new house.
I have not had much of a chance to enjoy the air tub, mostly because my wife keeps commandeering it and I have only been able to get into on a few occasions. I do know that she seems much more relaxed and happy, and I am willing to be money that being able to escape and soak in the air tub during the moving process probably prevented several arguments from breaking out during the stressful time.
We had the air tub professionally installed and the workers did a fabulous job of making sure that they got the tub installed quickly with a minimum of fuss. After they left, the only sign that they had been there at all was the brand new air tub in our bathroom. If you are living in the Pennsylvania area, I would highly recommend that you check out the great new whirlpool bathtubs and the features available.
