Scary Movies Just Aren’t Scary Anymore

There was a time when a scary movie made you close your eyes and cautiously peek through your fingers. There was a time when a villain was a real villain with motives and a thought process. The tension that was built up was unbearable, and that was what made the movie great. The victims never knew what was coming.

Today scary movies are just pathetic. The killers are just mindlessly killing for killing’s sake. They hack and slash people to death for no particular reason. There is no tension built up. There is no plot line. What happened to the scary movie industry? The movies now are just trying to compete with one another to see who can make the goriest movies. The grossest movies created have come out in the last decade. The whole idea of shocking the audience with as much violence and gore as possible is what sells. You can’t even watch a scary movie today with good suspense built up in it. No, right from the beginning the audience is immersed in this horribly violent scene that doesn’t end until the movie ends.

The characters are poorly if at all developed. The killers have no motives or intentions other than mindless havoc.

There needs to be movies that are truly scary. They need to leave the audience afraid to go to sleep at night. The old cult classics did this when they first came out. Anymore, audiences leave the theatre with a sour stomach rather than goosebumps. The problem is that going to these disgusting movies is more like a trial of manhood almost. Teens go to see these movies just to see if they can get through it. Our minds have become so seared that we don’t know good cinema anymore.

The Best Leprechaun Movies

When it comes to little people and acting, few have enjoyed the same level of success as Warwick Davis. This British native made his acting debut as Wicket the Ewok in the Star Wars franchise at the tender age of eleven. Since then Warwick has enjoyed a steady acting career that includes working with some of the most successful names in the acting business including Val Kilmer, Ron Howard, Johnny Depp, and Alan Rickman.

In his autobiography, Warwick states that one of the things he’s very proud of is the fact that he can claim to have been the lead actor in one of the most popular horror franchises ever made. Warwick played the role of the homicidal leprechaun in the cult horror series Leprechaun. A series of horror movies that feature increasing gruesome ways to kill a leprechaun who always manages to come back to life so he can star in another movie.

No one will say that the Leprechaun series was the greatest of all the horror movies ever made, with the exception of the very first one, they all went to directly to the video. Each one seemed campier than the last, but over the years, the movies, each putting the characters in more ridiculous situations. However many fans of the genre list these movies as a guilty pleasure, taking delight in the increasingly ridiculous plots.

The very first movie in the Leprechaun series not only featured the considerable acting talents of Warwick Davis, but also starred an unheard of actress in her very first role: a pretty girl by the name of Jennifer Aniston.

Top Scary Movies of All Time

Scary movies have changed quite a bit over time. When scary movies first started being made, they were cheesy and made with lots of props. Some of them really weren’t all that scary as much as they were gross. Now, scary movies are done in a way that not only scares you mentally but down deep in your soul. Many scary movies are scary because they are things that can actually happen and really show the mental state of our world right now. There are scary movies that were big hits and consider some the greatest scary movies of all time.

One scary movie that created quite a stir was the movie called “It”. It is a movie about a clown that haunts kids and steals them and takes them to the underground sewer. He seemed to always show up when kids were alone or near water. He always looked really nice with a nice voice and then as he got them, he turned evil and spoke with an awful voice. This was a movie that people shuttered at and created a huge fear with clowns.

Another great scary movie was actually a series of movies that people just could not get enough of. It was the series of Nightmare on Elm Street. These movies were very popular when they came out. People loved them. They were about a man names Freddy who killed people in their dreams. It showed a lot of people trying to stay awake for weeks so that they would not dream of him.

On these same lines were the movies that were about “Jason”. He was also a man that seemed to show up at all the places that people were alone. Jason was basically a serial killer that wore a mask that we still see around today. There will always be scary movie that everyone remembers and fears. These scary movie seem to change the way we view the world around us.

Why We Love Funny Horror Movies

The best “worst” unintentionally funny horror movie ever made has to be Plan 9 From Outer Space. This movie is the classic Ed Wood Jr. film from 1959 that features deceased legendary film, actor Bela Lugosi. The title of the film would give the uninformed viewer the idea that this is an old science fiction movie, but the addition of Zombies, vampires, and zombies paint a picture radically different from whatever the original intent of the movie might have been. The general plot is about a group of people from outer space that come here to stop humans from creating the ultimate doomsday machine. This plot point gets lost as the movie turns into the alien’s deciding to raise all of the Earth’s dead as zombies.

The main reason this movie is so unintentionally funny is that the acting is completely atrocious. Most of the main actors involved had never appeared in films before and spend most of their time mugging for the cameras. The dialog, with itself is some of the worst ever written, is delivered with all of the emotion of someone reading the contents of a box of cereal. The majority of the characters wander in and out of scenes with no apparent purpose other than to deliver their line and leave.

Poor Bela Lugosi; after a storied career playing the legendary Dracula, he had been reduced to playing bit parts and scenes that capitalized on his fame for the one role. Ed Wood had planned to star him in a project entitled either Tomb of the Vampire or The Ghoul Goes West, but Lugosi died after filming only a few disconnected scenes. Wood recycled these scenes into Plan 9 for a most bizarre starring role for the dead actor.

Haunted Halloween Bingo Variations for Kids

As a young mother and teacher, I am always looking for educational games to entertain my own children and the students in my classroom.  Bingo is a game that is very easy to learn, even for preschoolers.  The original game of Bingo teaches number and letter recognition, listening skills, small motor skills, and the characteristics of good sportsmanship. Even preschoolers can play the game with adult supervision or with help from older youngsters. There are many variations of Bingo that are based on the premise of the old standard.  During Halloween each year, I always host a bingo bonus tournament in my classroom.  We play different kinds of bingo and the kids love it!  Here are a few examples you can incorporate into your own children’s play time, whether it is Halloween or another time of the school year.

Picture bingo is a travel game which can be played in the car or even as an observation game while taking a walk.   The child is given a card with pictures of things you might see while traveling in a car. The cards can even be made by the children themselves ahead of time.  Depending on the length of the trip and the age of the children, the cards can have 3 rows of 3 pictures or 5 rows of 5 pictures.  The key is to make the cards light and easy to handle.  The object of the game, of course, is to match the pictures with the things you see out the window or while you are moving.  Kids can use crayons or washable markers to cross off their matches.  When you have matched a complete row of pictures, it’s “Bingo” time!   You can play Coverall with these cards just like in regular Bingo.  If you’re in a rush, pre-made Travel Bingo cards and games are also sold in the toy departments of many well-known variety stores.  You could also let your kids play bingo online by logging into one of the many educational sites that offer bingo for kids.

Number bingo can be played by preschoolers as a number recognition game and then altered to be a wonderful tool for learning addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole numbers, decimals and even fractions.  Some of my fellow middle school teachers have even played Algebra Bingo with their students as a study aid for tests.  The numbers you want to include can be randomly selected and placed on cards with spaces that form a series of squares in rows.  As long as the number of rows going across is the same as the number of rows going down, the players will be able to achieve “Bingo”.  Number Bingo is an excellent tool for learning the multiplication tables. Each row can be multiples of different numbers. (Example: Row B is multiples of 2, Row I could be multiples of 3, and so on.)   Calls can be as simple as naming the number or as complex as an equation with the answer on the card.

Buzzword Bingo has been played most recently by businesses and corporations during seminars and informational meetings.  But this game can be simplified for children and used for word recognition when your child is a beginning reader.  Even if your child is still just learning the beginning sounds of words, you can make a card with letters only, and read to them.  When they hear a word that starts with a letter on the card, they can try to match letters to make a Bingo row.  Buzzword Bingo can also be used to enhance your child’s listening skills.   You can read a story to them and they match the buzzword on their card when they hear you say the word as you read.  You can also play this version on free bingo sites online.

Good luck! Have fun, and don’t forget to yell, “BINGO!” even if you only play bingo online.  It just makes the game more fun!

Meet the Newest Haunted Mine Tour Guide

My name is Tom Walker and I’m the newest employee at Pennsylvania’s famous haunted mine. We recently moved to the area from Texas and it has been quite an adjustment!  Our old house had a whirlpool bath tub that my wife loved. When we realized that we were going to have to move she wept, she could not imagine life without her whirlpool tub. Still, the move had to be made.  As a tour guide, I was being transferred to Pennsylvania to do guided tours of an old mine that was supposedly haunted.  It was a great job and a higher salary, so the deal was that as soon as we found a new house, if it did not have a whirlpool tub, one of the very first things we would do is have one installed.

As luck would have it, the house we found was perfect in every way except for the lack of whirlpools. The ink on the closing papers wasn’t even dry when my wife loaded me up in the car and took me shopping to look at hot tubs and spas.

Both of us assumed that we would be getting one of the whirlpool bathtubs like we had previously. We knew how they worked and had been very happy with our old one, but once we reached the dealership we found ourselves looking not at the traditional whirlpools, but rather at air tubs. At first I thought that the air tubs were the same things as a whirlpool but with a different name, but I was soon set right.

We talked to the dealer who explained that while there are some basic similarities between the Jacuzzi whirlpool tub that we were used to and the air tub, there are also some huge differences that set them apart from other outdoor saunas. Apparently the purpose of the air tub is to use just the right combination of air and water so that when you get into the air tub, you will feel like you are weightless. He also said that most people found that the air tub was preferable when they wanted to just enjoy a quiet bath. However people who were prone to sports injuries or needed some therapeutic help preferred the whirlpools that have jets that crank out more power.

In the end, my wife and I decided to purchase an air tub instead of the whirlpool. This decision was made mostly because there had been a few times when she had felt like the jets in our old tub were pummeling her and she thought that she would prefer the gentler air tub. We made arrangements to have the air tub installed the same day that we were going to be able to move into our new house.

I have not had much of a chance to enjoy the air tub, mostly because my wife keeps commandeering it and I have only been able to get into on a few occasions. I do know that she seems much more relaxed and happy, and I am willing to be money that being able to escape and soak in the air tub during the moving process probably prevented several arguments from breaking out during the stressful time.

We had the air tub professionally installed and the workers did a fabulous job of making sure that they got the tub installed quickly with a minimum of fuss. After they left, the only sign that they had been there at all was the brand new air tub in our bathroom.  If you are living in the Pennsylvania area, I would highly recommend that you check out the great new whirlpool bathtubs and the features available.

Surviving the Screaming Tourists

I decided to change my smoking habit when I first began working at the haunted mines in West Virginia last year.  There was a no smoking policy (for traditional cigarettes!) in the mines and with the hourly screaming and shrieking from frightened tourists, I switched to e-cigs so I could maintain my sanity with the help of my old friend nicotine.

Ever since I made the change from the traditional cigarettes to the electronic cigarettes, people are always asking me if I am happy that I decided to make the change, and if I ever consider going back to traditional cigarettes. The answer is always the same: Yes, I am thrilled that I decided to buy e cigarettes and no, I cannot see me ever going back to traditional cigarettes!  I would have no reason to go back to my old ways.

Every time I take the time to really think about the US electronic cigarette brands that I am using, I am always a little bit awed by it. I don’t know who thought that they should create a battery powered cigarette, but I do know that they had to be a genius. Not only were they able to come up with a way to create a cartridge that would release a vapor that is rich in nicotine, but they were also able to combine the cartridge, a lithium battery, and a mouthpiece in such a manner that it both looks and feel like a real cigarette. If I was holding an e-cigarette and a traditional cigarette, I would have a hard time distinguishing between the two.

Like most people, I was skeptical the first time I read the electronic cigarettes reviews. I really could not see how a cigarette, any cigarette, that did not have any tobacco in it could possibly compare to one that did. I was sure that the vapor from the electronic cigarette would taste terrible. I was wrong. Not only did the vapor taste like the smoke I have been enjoying all my life, it also felt like real smoke as well. The only difference that I noticed was the smell. There wasn’t any smoky smell.

The cost of the e-cig is very appealing. A person can smoke the exact same amount of nicotine that they did previous to switching to the electric cigarette, but they will only spend a third of the money according to reports on Premium e cigs reviews. The average person can anticipate getting about 80 puffs from each of the cartridges. The great thing about the cartridges is that they are easy to install and easy to order. The way that I make sure that I always have cartridges when I need them is setting my computer up to automatically remind me to place an order every Tuesday, and if I am anticipating a stressful week, I order extra cartridges, if I don’t need them, I store them in the glove box until the day that I do. It never hurts to have a couple of extra e-cig cartridges on hand.

Since so many people are curious about the electronic cigarette, I have gotten into the habit of keeping an extra one on me at all times. This way when someone asks me if they are any good, all I have to do is pull it out and let them look at it up close.  Then I give them the web address to read White Cloud reviews.  More often than not, when I run into that person again, they have made the change to electronic cigarettes and would never consider smoking anything else ever again.

Are Houses Really Haunted?

People are always wandering if houses really are haunted. The answer to that question is going to depend on whether or not ghosts are real. Ghosts seem to be something that people either believe in or they don’t; there never seems to be any middle ground. The best thing about people who do not believe in ghosts is watching them try to explain away weird things that happen when they are in the same vicinity as a ghost!  Believe it or not, there has to be some kind of paranormal world.  There is too much evidence to brush it off as a great series of pranks!

The reason that there is so much doubt about ghosts has to do with the fact that many of the supposed encounters with ghosts and ghost hunters always seem to turn out to be very elaborate hoaxes. Scams about ghost hunters date all the way back to the mid 1800’s when two girls put together an elaborate plan to catch a ghost which they later confessed was nothing but a ruse.

One thing that gives credence to the idea that ghosts really do exist is the fact that weird things really do happen, and they seem to happen most frequently in areas where there was a great deal of trauma, particularly in old asylums. Two asylums, one in Peoria Illinois the other in Traverse City Michigan seem to have a great deal of unexplainable things that just happen. They are not the kind of place where you would want to spend the night.

Since no one knows if ghost are real, there is no way to tell if they are really the vengeful spirits that everyone thinks they are, or if they are simply humans who, for whatever reason, decided to not move on. My guess is that if ghosts are real, their nature will closely mirror the personality they had when they were alive.

As of right now, there is no conclusive scientific proof that ghosts are real, but on the other hand, there also is not any proof that ghosts aren’t real either. Just like there is no proof as to whether or not aliens are real and regularly visiting earth. And it does not look like any proof of their existence is going to happen anytime in the near future.

Zach’s Haunted Encounter

Zach has one of the coolest jobs in town. By day he is a college student. He attends a university in his small town where he grew up. He sleeps in his uncle’s basement since his parents moved away a few years back. As a kid he knew the streets of this town like the back of his hand. He was especially familiar with the Hill House. Everyone knew it was haunted, and as a young boy he had spent many days hearing tales of it’s chilling inhabitants. One summer he even knocked on the front door in a dare. Back then, the house was deserted. When Zach was in high school the city took over the home and it now stands as a historical site.

While taking a psychology class his freshman of college he toured the house. Most students had no reservations about touring the home, but Zach remembered the stories of his childhood and was hesitant to enter the haunted house. Once inside though, Zach appreciated the beauty of the home and enjoyed the tour. He even peaked interest when their tour guide mentioned they were hiring. This place was obviously was not like those stories he had heard as a child and he stopped back by later that same day to apply for the job.

During his evenings in college Zach would play no deposit bingo to wind down after a long day at school. The Hill House was busy with tours since the Historic Site had been added to the National Registry. There was quite a but of paper work to be done for the registry to stay in effect. Zach’s boss had asked him if he would mind helping out with it. The only time that Zach had available was in the late evenings when the home was no longer open for tours. He’d close the doors to the public and then take out the record books and begin his research. He would take breaks from time to time and eat a snack while playing wow bingo or landmarkbingo.

As Zach dove further into the history of the home some chilling revelations were discovered. He found journals of the owner with reports of ghosts, sounds, and unnerving occurrences. Zach would begin to feel uncomfortable and close down shop for the night. Unnerved by what he had read, he would go back to his uncle’s basement and play his favorite sites like wow bingo, fluffy favorites, and landmarkbingo. He had fun playing no deposit bingo and forgetting what he had learned earlier in the evening. The knowledge kept him up late into the night.

The following day while doing research, Zach read of a little girl who would appear in her night gown. She would appear to have tears streaming down her face. The journal, written in an elegant hand, indicated that the girl never made a sound and always disappeared as quickly as she had appeared. As Zach walked through the house that night turning off lights and checking doors, he caught a glimpse of something moving down the stairs. As he approach a form of a girl appeared before him. He gasped. As his mind begin to race his body became paralyzed with fear. He could not move. As quickly as she came, she was gone. Zach quickly headed home and buried himself in a night of playing his favorite online bingo sites. That was one night he would certainly never forget!

Haunted Houses in America

There is something about haunted houses that is appealing, which is why it is such a good thing that there are so many haunted houses in the United States.

One of the haunted houses is located in Kentucky is sad. The story involves a couple of lovers during the Civil War. When the young man went off to fight his bride promised that she would stand by the window until he returned. This was not one of her better ideas. As a result of standing next to an open window, she contracted pneumonia and died. When her husband returned, he went to the room and also died, this time a broken heart was to blame. No one knows whose spirit haunts the property, but someone does. Traffic lights near the house act badly and there have been several nasty car wreck near it.

The Baily House in Michigan is not the kind of house that you want to live in. The Bailey House was once owned by a woman who murdered her entire family before she hung herself. The spirits in the house are not happy. Blood regularly seeps through the floor boards and there is a strange waterfall in the basement near the stairs. The home is not occupied and all of the utilities have been disconnected.

The house is no longer there, but in Bangor Maine, there was a home where a woman, Eliza lived. During her life, Eliza was a witch and her spirit started to haunt the house after her death. Even though the home burned to the ground a long time ago, Eliza’s spirit continues to roam the land where the house used to stand.

The Lemp Mansion in Missouri was actually used as a brewery. While the business was thriving, four of the family members killed themselves on the property, presumably in the home. When workers were contracted to work on the Lemp Mansion, the were uncomfortable and felt like they were being watched. They became even more alarmed when there tools started to go missing. Visions of one of the Lemp wives, who is now referred to as the Lavender Lady, have been reported. The Lemp Mansion is considered one or the most haunted places in America.
